 ABOUT
Born and raised in Alsace-Lorraine,
in the North East of France, I developed my creative talent after a successful career in social
work and education both in France and in Scotland. I have a long standing interest in art, crafts and
photography, stimulated through travels overseas. My street-portrait photographs have been published in magazines and exhibited
throughout France. I have always been interested in glass and fascinated by the vibrancy of stained glass
windows and decorative glass objects.
In my new home country, I was given the opportunity to develop my
creative talent by studying traditional stained glass as well as warm
glass techniques, and completed a
Higher National Diploma in Art Glass Production at North Glasgow College in 2009. I received the Ede and Ravenscroft Prize
for "outstanding academic achievement and…best overall student in the Faculty of Creative and Applied Arts. "
Whilst continuing to create contemporary fused glass jewellery and homeware , I am working on a series of mosaic stepping stones with a floral theme, incorporating fused glass and ceramic into the design. "You
have got to do what you love; it's the only way to do your best."Rowan LeCompte Rowan LeCompte
has devoted his life to illuminating the Washington National Cathedral.
